A Markham man is in custody after being charged with multiple fraud offences after jewelry stores in Pickering and around the GTA were targeted.

Durham Police wrapped up an investigation earlier this month after they said the suspect purchased $20,000 in jewelry using “fraudulent identification” on two visits to the People’s Jewellers location at Pickering City Centre mall on January 8 and 11.

The suspect used different names on each occasion, police said.

The suspect was identified after similar offences happened in other GTA jewelry stores.

Samuel Yzraiib, 25, was arrested Saturday and charged with two counts of fraud over $5,000, 23 counts of possession of fraudulent identification, possession of a counterfeit mark and two court order violations.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Det. Obront of the Central West Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1832.
