Here are some of the weather stories making headlines around the world this past week.

Northern California got hit with an EF-1 tornado. Tornadoes in that part of the world are extremely rare.

The twister touched down about 100 km outside of San Francisco.

The severe weather conditions also prompted the first-ever tornado warning for San Francisco.

At least five people were injured and the storm did extensive damage, flipped vehicles and knocked out power for thousands of people.

Cyclone Chido devastated the French island of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean.

It’s estimated to be the most powerful storm to hit the region in the past century, with wind speeds of more than 200 km/h.

Roofs were torn off buildings and homes, power and phone lines were knocked out.
