King Charles III Coronation medal awarded to a Mississauga doctor [Video]

A Mississauga doctor received the esteemed King Charles III Coronation Medal.

Dr. Farhan M. Asrar, a Mississauga-based family doctor, known for his interest in space medicine, is one of the latest recipients of the medal.

Asrar researches the role space inventions play in health. He co-wrote a paper titled Outer space assets offer benefits to health care, and in January, another paper he co-authored titled Harnessing international collaboration in the space sector to innovate healthcare was published in The Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine.

Asrar was awarded the medal in recognition for his significant contributions to Canada in the field of healthcare, medicine, space medicine and medical innovation.

The Coronation Medal was created by King Charles III, who was crowned king of the United Kingdom in 2022 after his mother, Queen Elizabeth, died in the fall of that year at 96.
