A dispute involving multiple people at an Ajax residence this week ended with a woman brandishing a knife tasered by police.
Durham Police responded to the dispute at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and were forced to deploy a conducted energy weapon (CEW) after a woman in the home, while speaking with the officers, ran into the kitchen and armed herself with a knife.
When she refused to drop the weapon, police said, officers tasered the woman and took her into custody.
A statement from police said the incident highlights “how the appropriate use of a CEW can bring a dangerous situation to a safe conclusion.”
