The series went one game longer than last year but in the end the result was exactly the same: the London Knights are back-to-back OHL champions.
The Oshawa Generals are once again looking to next year.
London swept the Generals last season on their way to the Memorial Cup, where they lost a heartbreaker 4-3 to host Saginaw. This year, the Knights seemed even more dominant, sweeping their way to the OHL final, where they were stopped 4-2 in game one by Oshawa.
That would be the club’s only blemish as they fashioned four straight wins after that road loss, winning the series Thursday night at home, 5-2.
Kasper Halttunen scored twice, following back-to-back hattricks in games three and four (he had consecutive hattricks against Oshawa in last year’s OHL final as well) to earn OHL playoff MVP honours after producing 15 goals and six assists in 17 games. The …
