Hot water has been restored to a 47-unit apartment building in Montreal’s Lachine borough two months after the boiler broke down.

Borough officials say several attempts were made in vain to have the landlord of the building on Ivan-Franko Street repair the problem.

Receiving no response, city workers finally completed the repairs on Friday.

Nevertheless, residents lament that there is still a problem with the heating, which they say has not been working since last winter.

Repairs to the building are estimated at $10,000 so far, with the landlord expected to pay for them.

If he refuses, the borough says a lien will be placed on the property.
