This comes as Ford threatened 25% energy surcharge on US states, prompting a call from the Trump administration. Canada Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc has announced 25% counter-tariffs on $21 billion of US-made goods after US President Trump levied blanket steel tariffs on March 12. Trump doubled tariffs on steel and aluminium imports to the United States after Ford’s announcement on electricity exports.
