London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) has received a first place award from Canadian Blood Services’ (CBS) Hospital Challenge.
The Ontario-wide challenge from August to October 2024 saw LHSC receive 117 units of blood, more than any other participating hospital.
“I’m proud of our staff, physicians, learners, volunteers, and community members for taking on the challenge and donating blood to support our patients,” said Supervisor David Musyj. “Blood plays a critical role in everyday medical care at our hospitals, and these donations help ensure a steady supply.”
The annual blood donation event has been going strong for fifteen years, and helps raise community awareness of the essential role of constant blood donation in healthcare. Donated blood is needed for everything from surgeries, to cancer treatment, to traumatic injuries.
You can make an appointment to donate blood today at the CBS donation centre at 820 Wharncliffe Road South in London.
