BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Today is the Winter Solstice. We will only receive 8 hours and 47 minutes of daylight, the least in a single day over the entire year. We will continue to see cloudy skies and light snow showers across Maine this morning, especially East, due to low pressure off the coast of Nova Scotia. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Coastal Washington County and a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Inland Washington County and all of Hancock County. A Gale Warning is also in effect for Coastal Downeast Maine. All of these expire at 1:00pm this afternoon. Showers become more scattered thereafter, and blowing snow is possible due to Northerly winds at 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. High temps today vary from the mid 10s to low 30s. Most will be in the mid to upper 20s.
