SAGINAW, Mich. (WJRT) – The threat and subsequent pause of tariffs on Canada and Mexico created a stressful day for Mid-Michigan produce distributors.

That includes Andy D’Amore with D’Amore Produce Solutions which is based out of Saginaw. He says they were scrambling this morning to try to understand just how the tariffs would impact produce prices.

“Normally, I’m getting prices between 7 and 9 a.m. from Mexico and Canada for me to then figure out our price list for our own clients. And the first email I received was, ‘Hey, there’s this tariff, and we’ve got a problem.,” he recalled.

D’Amore is just one link on the supply chain that brings produce from the farm to the grocery store. He likened the initial news of the tariffs to that of finding out the weather had wiped out a particular crop.
