Local Sheriffs Offices share results from Operation Spring Break [Video]

COLUMBUS COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has released results from their participation in the multi-county ‘Operation Spring Break’ this past weekend.

CCSO and other area Sheriff’s Offices and Police Departments teamed up on Friday, May 23, and Saturday, May 24, to issue a total of 845 traffic charges and 25 DWIs.

Friday (Columbus & Robeson Counties):

  • 333 Traffic Charges
  • 4 DWIs

Saturday (Brunswick, New Hanover & Pender Counties):

  • 542 Traffic Charges
  • 21 DWIs

Agencies involved in the operation included the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, the Pender County Sheriff’s Office, the Wilmington Police Department, the Carolina Beach Police Department, the Wrightsville Beach Police Department, and the Topsail Beach Police Department.

The operation was part of the ongoing Click It or Ticket campaign, which encourages the use of seat belts.
