A Steinbach-based company that exports internationally is encouraging its employees and customers in the face of U.S. tariffs.

Neil Fast, president of Loewen Windows, says his company sends about 75 per cent of its product to the U.S. in any given year. Another four to five per cent goes to other international markets like the Caribbean, and a large bite of its business is in Canada.

While the uncertainty of U.S. president Donald Trump’s tariffs is difficult, Fast says Loewen is doing its best to keep its employees and customers updated on what’s going on, and how the company is dealing with it.

“This is not a business that stops and turns around on a dime. So, we’ve been working with our dealers to mitigate the uncertainty, and mitigate the risk that homebuilders are feeling when they want to chose Loewen product,” Fast says.
