London City Hall renovations near completion [Video]

A major milestone has been reached to reopen the front entrance of London City Hall, as a twice-delayed project to make the area safe will be completed later this month.

Plywood construction cladding has been removed from beneath the front canopy of 300 Dufferin St. after almost 10 months of being covered to repair the soffit and internal mechanical systems.

Grey aluminum cladding with built-in lighting now frames the entranceway, but several flag poles and a security cameras have yet to be re-mounted.

Civic administration tells CTV News that a final safety inspection must be completed before the public returns to using the front doors.

Repairs began in March 2024.

After missing the initial completion date on July 31, a report to city council explained that the scope of work increased significantly after contractors were able to inspect the conditions inside the canopy.
