London, Ont. forecast for July 16, 2024 [Video]

All watches and warnings have come down following storms that moved through the region overnight and into Tuesday morning.

With thunderstorm watches and rainfall warnings, total rainfall amounts of up to 100 mm were possible in the region, with rainfall rates of 40 mm within an hour.

Heavy downpours caused flash floods and water pooling on local roads.

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is reminding parents and guardians to keep children and pets away from streams, rivers, and ditches and out of any flooded areas.

Watercourses are fast-moving and high from all the rain, and streambanks are soft and slippery.

Due to the high number of calls and service requests the city has received regarding basement flooding, the corporation is warning that responses may be delayed temporarily.

A portion of Highway 402 in Lambton County is closed due to flooding.
