A Brampton man is dead and another is in hospital after a truck driver “lost control” while on a New Brunswick highway this week, police say.

The fatal crash happened on Tuesday on Highway 2 in Meductic, approximately 80 kilometres west of Fredericton, NB, the RCMP says.

Investigators say the driver of a transport truck was headed eastbound on Highway 2 along with a passenger. The crash happened when the male driver “lost control” of the truck and drove off the road, police say.

The driver of the transport truck was rushed to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, while a 48-year-old man from Brampton died at the scene.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

Mounties say that a collision reconstructionist and the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office are assisting police with the crash investigation.

The investigation is ongoing, police say.
