The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said a traffic stop this week led to the largest fentanyl pill seizure in the parish’s history. The traffic stop was Tuesday, Jan. 14 on U.S. Highway 11. Deputies said they saw a gold GMC Yukon committing traffic violations near T.J. Smith Sr. Expressway in Slidell. Deputies pulled the Yukon over and found 16,000 fentanyl pills. The pills were nearly five pounds and were disguised as counterfeit Oxycodone pills, according to the sheriff’s office. Detectives also seized $1,500. The pills were hidden in the sunroof of the car, according to the sheriff’s office. The driver, Tawan Anthony, 21, of Pearl River, and a passenger, Regginald Henry, 41, of Pearl River were both arrested and booked on various drug and traffic charges.
