LVHN welcomes Dexter and Cisco, its new security K-9 duo | Lehigh Valley Regional News [Video]

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), part of Jefferson Health, has added two new security K-9s to its team.

LVHN says these K-9s, Dexter and Cisco, are capable of detecting firearms. The two recently started making rounds at LVHN hospitals and major health network and community events, says LVHN. 

The K-9 weapons detection program is a leading-edge, proactive strategy that aims to increase the safety of patients, colleagues and the community, says LVHN.

LVHN says the K-9s’ scent detection capabilities are so precise that they can often detect a firearm simply when walking into a room.

Dexter is a male black Labrador retriever. Cisco is a female springer spaniel.

LVHN says the K-9s are from Stapleton Security, which provides detection and security services across the country and has its K-9 training facility in East Stroudsburg.

Dexter and Cisco were handpicked and trained by Frank Reda, who has more than 30 years …
