Celebrating Christmas in July with “White Christmas,” the Brunswick-based theatre’s lead actors have a romantic history, not unlike their characters.
BRUNSWICK, Maine — Darien Crago and Daniel Plimpton, two of the lead actors in Maine State Music Theatre’s production of “White Christmas,” portray a couple who fall in love and become engaged. Playing the roles did not require a tremendous leap of imagination.
They met 10 years ago while performing in a production of “White Christmas” on Long Island, New York.
“I quickly was very enamored with Darien,” Plimpton recalled.
She had a lead role while he was “dancing in the back,” as he put it.
“I asked her to be my date to the opening date of that show. She said no,” Plimpton explained.
As with most romantic theatre stories, this one does not end with the initial rejection.
“A few weeks later she sort of changed her mind,” Plimpton said. “And then we started dating and got married in 2022, and …
