A HOST of high street banks have been hit with an outage leaving thousands of customers locked out of accounts.

Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Nationwide customers are all suffering issues, according to Downdetector, which measures outages.

The vast majority of users are having issues accessing their mobile or online banking.

With the end of the month being payday for many, customers are fuming that they can’t check their accounts.

Others can’t make payments or view their account balances.

Frustrated customers for all the affected banks starting reporting glitches at around 7am.

At the peak of the outage, almost 4,000 Lloyds customers reported issues.

While over 4,000 Halifax, part of the Lloyds Banking Group, customers said they were struggling to access accounts.

More than 830 Nationwide customers were flagging problems with their mobile, online banking and viewing their account balances.
