Travellers heading to Western Canada may want to keep an eye on a snowstorm on Thursday.

The spring snowstorm in the Prairies could impact flights out of Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga, Pearson officials said on X.

The significant snowstorm is expected to start Thursday morning and continue overnight into Friday moving through parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Environment and Climate Change Canada said. Up to 25 cm of snow could fall in some areas.

Pearson Airport officials are also monitoring a possible spring ice storm forecasted for southern Ontario starting on Friday. 

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the ice storm in the GTA and southern Ontario. The storm could start late Friday and continue through the weekend. Up to 20 mm of freezing rain is forecast.

Pearson said deicing crews and surface maintenance teams are prepared to keep planes and runways clear. 

Travellers are moving through the terminals with 478 departures and 473 arrivals …
