Majority of Ontario residents are being severely impacted by potholes, survey says [Video]

Over 90 per cent of Ontario residents are experiencing difficulties surrounding unresolved residential potholes.

A report by Nextdoor Canada — a neighbourhood service application — revealed that after what seemed like the province’s first snowy winter in years potholes throughout Ontario have become increasingly severe.

Additional data from Nextdoor also indicated that, on a neighborhood-by-neighborhood basis, over half of Ontario residents are being severely impacted by disruptions caused by potholes.

As for which municipalities are currently experiencing the worst damage, Mississauga, Toronto, Hamilton, and areas within Durham Region remain the most impacted.

Just last year, Mississauga’s pothole crisis was so severe, that it took over seven tonnes of asphalt to remedy damage throughout the city.

Researchers cited that to combat Ontario’s pothole problem until mass municipal incentives are drafted, community reporting is the fastest way to get results.
