A “makeshift drug operation” was discovered not far from a playground in a Hamilton park on Thursday, police say.

Hamilton police said officers were patrolling through Woolverton Park on Charlton Avenue near John Street at around 11:15 a.m. when they found a developing encampment.

“When approached, one of the occupants of the encampment began to conceal drug paraphernalia,” police allege.

“A search was conducted in the makeshift tent and a long list of illegal items was discovered, including fentanyl, crystal meth, oxycodone, morphine, tasers, and other drug trafficking evidence. Most notably, officers found a bag containing specific objects commonly used for cutting drugs to prepare it for distribution on the streets.”

A list of money owed to drug dealers was also allegedly found.

The tent with the items was 30 metres away from a play structure in the park, police said.
