A man from St. Catharines is facing multiple criminal charges after police recovered a firearm and clothing linked to a robbery earlier this week.

Niagara Regional Police said in a news release Friday that the incident happened on April 16, when an armed robbery was reported at a convenience store in St. Catharines.

The robbery happened at the Avondale store located at 209 Glenridge Ave., where police say a man went in, gathered some merchandise and then pulled a black and blue handgun from his bag as he approached the counter.

He allegedly pointed the firearm at the clerk and demanded cash from the register. After placing the money into his bag, the man fled the store on foot, heading north.

A suspect was identified a few days later and located on April 18 in the area of Fourth Avenue and Louth Street in St. Catharines, where he was taken …
