One person faces charges after a partially constructed log home was found in a wooded area in Ontario.

The home was found after the Huron County OPP received a complaint about trees cut in a forested area owned by the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority on March 31, the OPP said in a press release on Wednesday.

A total of 27 mature trees had been cut down in the area of Victoria and Helena streets near Wingham before March 31, police said. Wingham is in the Township of North Huron, northwest of Kitchener.

Police said someone had started to build a log home in the same area.

The conservation authority planted the mature trees decades ago and the loss is valued at $27,000, police said.

Police arrested and charged one person in connection with the incident on April 13.
