A man has been arrested and charged with multiple child pornography-related offences following a police search at a home in Welland, located south of St. Catharines in the Niagara Region.
In January 2025, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit, in collaboration with Brantford police, launched an investigation into the online sexual exploitation of children through a social media platform. Police did not specify which platform was involved.
On Feb. 15, detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Welland, where police say they seized several digital devices capable of storing electronic data.
Police arrested and charged a man following the search.
Jordan R. Gauthier, 41, of Welland is facing two counts of possessing child pornography and one count each of accessing child pornography and making child pornography available.
He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Feb. 16 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
