Man charged in human trafficking case spanning Niagara [Video]

A 31-year-old man from Welland has been charged with multiple criminal offences in connection with a human trafficking investigation that began earlier this year in the Niagara Region.

Police said in a news release Friday that an investigation launched in January 2025 focused on the alleged trafficking of a woman over the age of 18 across various locations in the region.

On April 17, Sanjay Ferguson was arrested after Niagara Regional Police executed search warrants at two properties in Welland. Investigators say he is also known by the aliases “Kevin Ontario,” “DJ KV,” and “Mr. Provincial.”

Ferguson has been charged with human trafficking, receiving a material benefit from trafficking, advertising sexual services, uttering death threats and two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Ferguson remains in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for April 18 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
