A Durham Region man has been charged with the abduction of his 3-year-old son after returning to Canada and landing at Pearson International Airport in Mississauga.
In July last year, the Toronto Police Service says Kapil Sunak travelled from Canada to India with his young son.
Police say Sunak was under a court order to return to Canada by Aug. 8, 2024, but that he failed to come back.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of abduction by parent/custody order, and police now say Sunak was arrested on Tuesday after landing at Pearson International Airport.
The accused was charged with abduction of a child under 14 years in contravention of a court order, police say.
He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
