Man dies following Glenmore Trail crash [Video]

Speed and alcohol are possible factors in a fatal crash on Glenmore Trail on Monday night, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to the eastbound lanes of Glenmore Trail S.W., west of the Crowchild Trail S.W. junction, around 9:45 p.m. for a crash involving a car and a stationary crane vehicle.

Police believe a 2018 BMW M240i, driven by a 19-year-old man, was travelling eastbound on Glenmore Trail when it veered into the right shoulder of the road and hit the crane.

The crane had broken down, and the operator, a man in his 30s, was trying to repair it on the side of the road.

Two passengers were inside the car at the time of the crash, an 18-year-old man and a 21-year-old man.

The 18-year-old passenger was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he later died.
