A man was found shot several times on the sidewalk across the street from a North Philadelphia hospital early Friday, Philadelphia police said.

The bleeding man was found after a Temple University Police Officer heard what sounded like several shots around 2 a.m. on April 11, 2025, Philadelphia police said.

The officer then found the man on the sidewalk at Germantown Avenue and Ontario Street — the scene is near Temple University Hospital’s main campus.

The injured man was taken to the nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition with three gunshot wounds to his shoulder area, police said.

The extent of the man’s injuries weren’t immediately known.

Police blocked off the intersection with yellow tape on a damp Friday morning as they searched for clues. A handgun could be seen on the ground. Investigators later said that was a BB gun.

No word yet on a motive for the shooting.
