HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A 44-year-old man from Wimauma was killed in a “nearly head-on” crash Friday on State Road 674 in Hillsborough County.

The crash happened around 2:52 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said in a news release. The man was reportedly traveling eastbound in a GMC Envoy while a 58-year-old Plant City woman in a GMC Yukon was heading westbound.

West of Carlton Branch Drive, troopers said the 44-year-old “failed to negotiate a curve” and entered the westbound lanes before colliding with the GMC Yukon. He was declared dead at the scene.

The 58-year-old woman and her 81-year-old passenger only suffered minor injuries in the crash, troopers said.
