Man rescued from water in Brampton; roads flooded across southern Ontario [Video]

A man was rescued from a waterway in Brampton as heavy rain overnight led to localized flooding across the GTA and southern Ontario.

In Brampton, emergency crews responded for a person in the water in the area of Kennedy Road South and Steeles Avenue shortly after 5 a.m. on Thursday, Peel paramedics Supt. Jonathan Hesler told INsauga.com.

The person is believed to have fallen into Etobicoke Creek.

Brampton Fire and Emergency Services said their crew deployed a water rescue and got the person safely out of the water. There was heavy rain and localized flooding in the area at the time, fire officials added.

Paramedics assessed and then transported the man to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Hesler said.

“Peel Regional Paramedic Services are reminding the public to stay well clear of bodies of water during extreme weather conditions,” Hesler said. “And we’re advising motorists at this time in the morning …
