A man who was suffered “life-altering” injuries in a nine-vehicle chain reaction collision north of Uxbridge Tuesday morning had left his vehicle to help others when he was hit by a pick-up truck and pinned into a snowbank.
Multiple vehicles were southbound on Regional Road 1, between Udora and Leaskdale in Uxbridge Township where blowing snow was causing white out visibility issues. A Kia sedan slowed due to the conditions and was struck from behind. Unable to see the stopped vehicles, the initial collision caused a chain reaction of crashes with nine vehicles involved.
A 20-year-old-man had exited his vehicle in an attempt to assist others when he was struck by the truck.
The incident happened at 10:45 a.m., just south of Fowlers Road.
Uxbridge Fire, along with York and Durham EMS, arrived on scene and with the help of bystanders were able to extract the victim from the snowbank. …
