Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a restaurant in Pickering at knifepoint on Christmas Day.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said they attended Helmand Kabob Palace on Brock Road, north of Finch Avenue, at around 8:30 p.m. last Wednesday.

They said that a suspect threatened an employee with a knife and demanded cash before fleeing the scene once the cashier handed over the money.

Police did not say how much money was stolen.

No injuries were reported

The suspect is described as a 40- to 50-year old man who was last seen wearing black sunglasses, a dark face covering, a black hat, a black hoodie, black pants, and black shoes.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact DRPS at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5355, or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
