Manitoba RCMP investigating fatal crash [Video]

A 72-year-old woman is dead following a crash on an icy Manitoba highway Tuesday morning.

Russell RCMP were called to a crash on Highway 41 in the town of St. Lazare at approximately 10:30 a.m.

When they arrived, they found a vehicle at the bottom of a steep hill on the south side of town that left the road and hit a tree.

Firefighters and paramedics removed the driver, a 72-year-old woman from Birtle, from the vehicle.

She was taken to hospital, but died from her injuries.

RCMP is investigating, but noted the road was icy at the time of the crash.
