A dense fog is blanketing much of the Prairies, including Manitoba, on Monday morning.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued fog advisories for several Manitoba communities, including Brandon, Headingley and Riding Mountain National Park.

According to the weather agency, the fog will thin throughout the day but will likely persist in several areas and redevelop in the evening.

Within the regions under the fog advisories, there are some areas with good visibility, but this will only last for a short period of time. Drivers should be prepared for poor visibility even if conditions are good now.

ECCC notes that the fog will likely lead to slippery driving conditions as well.

Winds will eventually shift westward, which will cause the fog to dissipate.
