After blowing snow and icy conditions shut down highways on Monday, conditions have improved across southern Manitoba on Tuesday.

Still, light snow lingers in Winnipeg this afternoon.

Southern Manitoba will otherwise be cloudy today with daytime highs in most areas between -8 C and -10 C.

Northwest winds won’t be strong enough to cause more blowing snow, but roads and highways could be slippery. Manitoba 511 is reporting most highways in the southeast are partly covered this afternoon.

Most northern regions will see a light dusting of snow this afternoon. Some areas, mainly in the northeast, could see light snow continue this evening.

The sky will gradually clear throughout the night across the province under a building arctic ridge of high pressure.

With clearing skies come plummeting temperatures. Overnight lows will drop to the low to upper -20s across the south, with the coldest temperatures expected in the southwest.
