The extreme cold is starting to settle in parts of Manitoba, including in the city of Winnipeg.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued an extreme cold warning for southern Manitoba, ranging from just outside of Portage la Prairie up to the Pelican Rapids area. The warning including spots like Winnipeg, Brandon, Minnedosa, Roblin, and Boissevain.
The warning means it could feel like minus 40 with the windchill or colder.
“A cold, Arctic air mass is moving over eastern Saskatchewan and western Manitoba. Under this cold air mass, overnight lows will drop to near minus 30 and colder. These cold temperatures combined with northerly winds of 10 to 15 km/h will produce extreme wind chill values of minus 40 and colder,” the warning reads.
