The Upper Midwest and Northeast will be hit next week with so-called “Alberta clipper” storms, which will bring quick-hitting snow bouts to 16 states.
An Alberta Clipper is a speeding winter storm that originates from the Canadian province of Alberta, but it can also be from nearby provinces or even from Montana. A clipper will typically dump about 1 to 3 inches of snow, but higher amounts are possible. Clippers also usually bring colder temperatures and gusty winds.
