The sap may have ended its run a few weeks ago but the celebration of all things maple continues, with Clarington and Durham Region honouring the sweetest of syrups at Maple Fest, taking over downtown Bowmanville May 3.
There’s nothing more Canadian than freshly harvested maple syrup and the community will celebrate the onset of spring with the festival, held every year on the first Saturday in May.
The festival will also be a testament to the resilience of the community after the devastating fire that swept through the historic downtown on March 6, a blaze that claimed the life of 54-year-old Kelli Faris and destroyed a section of King Street.
The rebuild is still ongoing and Maple Fest will be an opportunity to honour those who have lost and to celebrate both tradition and new beginnings in the community.
