There’s a risk of freezing rain with snow and ice pellets expected across southern Ontario ahead of up to 25 mm of rainfall on Tuesday.

Environment Canada says to expect a chilly start to the day with a 30 percent chance of flurries or ice pellets early in the morning along with a risk of freezing rain in Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto, and Hamilton.

Moving into the afternoon there’s a 40 percent chance of rain with a daytime high of around 5 C.

But the evening could see the start of a deluge with up to 2o mm of rain possible in the GTA, the agency says.

A special weather statement was issued on Monday as a Colorado Low is set to bring heavy snow and rain to parts of Ontario this week.

Environment Canada says to expect “significant” precipitation in Mississauga, Toronto and across the province starting on Tuesday.
