Barely a week after police in tactical gear were seen at the Oshawa courthouse for a training exercise the Durham Police Marine Unit and the Canadian Forces 424 Search and Rescue are also in on the action, with a joint training exercise now underway on Lake Ontario off Whitby’s coast.

Durham Police are advising boaters and residents there will be a Search and Rescue helicopter in the Whitby area and members of the Marine Unit on the lake late Friday morning into early afternoon.

The training is expected to run for approximately two hours.
