Final Jeopardy stopped Whitby’s Jeopardy Queen from taking the first game in the two-game Jeopardy Masters tournament quarter-final match but Juveria Zaheer is sitting comfortably in fourth place heading into Wednesday’s deciding games.
Zaheer got off to a great start Tuesday against Jeopardy Invitational winner Matt Amadeo and 2025 Tournament of Champions finalist Isaac Hirsch, leading after the first round with 5,800 points after answering eight clues correctly, including the game’s first Daily Double.
The psychiatrist and researcher with CAMH and the University of Toronto managed to hold her lead heading into Final Jeopardy but Amodio was the only player to nail the correct response (‘Who are the Green Mountain Boys?’) to the final clue (‘This group formed in 1770, first to defend land grants in New England; later, it would assert independence for its region’) to win round one with 21,000 points.
Zaheer finished second with 13,599, earning one game point.
