May 1 weather: More thunderstorms possible across southern Ontario [Video]

The forecast is calling for rain and possible thunderstorms across the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario on Thursday.

Environment Canada says the day is expected to start off cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers in the late morning and afternoon hours in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa and the Niagara region.

Those showers could turn into thunderstorms by the late afternoon, with winds blowing around 20 km/h gusting up to 40 km/h, the weather agency says.

The daytime high in Mississauga will be around 11 C, and should stay warm overnight and reach up to 15 C by Friday morning.

There’s a chance of more thunderstorms into the evening with winds expected to die down in the later hours.

Friday could bring more rain to the region with Environment Canada calling for a 60 per cent chance of showers and a daytime high of around 16 …
