May 2 weather: Showers and thunderstorms for some parts southern Ontario [Video]

It could be a wet day with more rain and thunderstorms in the forecast for the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario.

Environment Canada says Friday is expected to start of cloudy with fog patches in the early morning hours in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Oshawa and Durham Region.

Those areas could see rain in the morning with a 40 per cent chance of showers, and a daytime high of around 18 C.

But there’s a risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon in Hamilton and the Niagara Falls area, the weather agency says.

Winds throughout the day are expected to blow around 20 km/h gusting up to 40 km/h.

Mississauga and the GTA could see more rain into the evening, with Environment Canada calling for a 40 per cent chance of showers.

Friday should see an overnight low of around 8 C.
