Measles exposure possible after infected person visits ribfest, movies in Ajax, Ontario [Video]

Durham Region could have its first measles case and is notifying the public of two measles exposure locations in Ajax related to a confirmed measles case from outside the region.

The infected person watched a showing of Lilo and Stitch at the Cineplex Odeon Cinemas on Kingston Road in Ajax (theatre, concession areas and washrooms) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 24 and visited the Ajax Ribfest at the Ajax Casino that day (from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and again from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.) and on May 25 (11 a.m. to 8 p.m.).

Durham Region Health is advising anyone who may have been at these locations to watch for symptoms until June 15.

There have been no cases of measles reported in Durham so far in 2025.
