Men’s mental health group launching in Ste. Anne – SteinbachOnline.com [Video]

The Town of Ste. Anne is taking an important step to support men’s mental health by launching a new support group. The group will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the AJ Fiola Boardroom. Open to men aged 21 and older, the gathering is designed to foster connection, community, and meaningful conversation.

Jeremy Wiens, who helped spearhead the initiative, was inspired after speaking in the Manitoba Legislature last October about men’s mental health. His advocacy tied into Bill 217, which established Men’s Mental Health Awareness Week in Manitoba. “Three-quarters of suicides are men,” Wiens said, adding that suicide is the second leading cause of death for men under 50.
