Metro Vancouver Board to discuss motion to slash its meeting fees – BC [Video]

Metro Vancouver Board members met on Friday to discuss a motion on slashing meeting fees.

At the meeting, the board decided to continue two programs and initiatives delivered through the area of “Other Regional District Services” and seek opportunities to reduce costs through the remainder of the budgeting process.

The two programs are the Housing Development Fund and Zero Waste Collaboration Initiatives.

The board said it will next review department-by-department potential operational cost savings​, including for the Metro Vancouver Water District, Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage District, the Metro Vancouver Housing Corporation, and the Metro Vancouver Regional District​.

At the Friday meeting, Metro Vancouver Board Chair Mike Hurley said that it has selected Deloitte to lead the governance review.

“This is a significant step in moving this review forward in a timely manner,” Hurley said in a statement.
