A TransLink bus hit a pedestrian outside Metrotown SkyTrain Station Thursday afternoon, closing the bus loop and sending the injured person to hospital.
Metro Vancouver Transit Police, who are investigating, said the pedestrian suffered “crush injuries,” meaning he was not only hit, but run over by the bus.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was crossing the 4500 block of Central Boulevard and not in a marked crosswalk when he was struck, MVTP said.
BC Emergency Health Services told CTV News it dispatched two ambulances – one with advanced care paramedics – to the scene, along with a “link and referral unit.”
“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient who was transported to hospital in serious but stable condition,” said Brian Twaites, paramedic public information officer for BCEHS, in an email.
