Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan prison gang turned international crime ring, has spread to Maine, the US Border Patrol confirmed Friday. 

This means TdA, as the South American mob is known to law enforcement, is operating in at least 23 states inside America.

A federal agent in the state known for lobster and lighthouses encountered a suspected member of TdA near Brunswick this week.

Two Venezuelan nationals were under investigation for theft when Border Patrol was called in.

‘After gathering information about the individuals, it was determined that both had previously illegally entered the United States and been released on their own recognizance,’ the agency explained in a press release
