With a new year just hours away, 2024 will come to a mild, but windy end.

As an upper low over the Prairies breaks down and northwest winds pick up in Manitoba, temperatures will fall this afternoon across the province.

The two features will combine to sprinkle a dusting of light snow in many regions, north and south, and in northwestern Ontario.

Here in the south, light snow will be more of the on-again, off-again variety, while many northern regions could see two to four centimetres this afternoon into tonight.

Even though temperatures will drop off slightly this afternoon, they will remain above normal for late December. That said, be prepared for some wind chill in those northwest winds.
